Iman Shumpert (wrist) says he's progressed to short range form shooting with his hand in rehab, Chris Haynes of Cleveland.com reports.

Shumpert said Wednesday that he's progressed to short-range form shooting with his surgically-repaired right wrist during the rehab process, Chris Haynes of Cleveland.com reports.

Analysis:

Shumpert underwent surgery on his right wrist in early October and seems to be progressing rapidly through his original 12-to-14 week recovery timetable. He's now eyeing a return at the short end of that window, which would have him back on the court by mid-December. Prior to performing the short-range shooting, Shumpert was limited to shooting and ball-handling drills with his non-injured left hand, but the fact that he's now feeling at least a little comfortable using the injured wrist suggests he's healing well. When Shumpert returns to action, he will likely reenter the lineup as the starting shooting guard, while J.R. Smith assumes the sixth-man role.
