Zach Randolph out vs. Rockets

Derick E. Hingle-US PRESSWIRE

Things have gone from bad to worse for the struggling Memphis Grizzlies.

Head coach Dave Joerger listed rookie JaMychal Green as his starter for Friday's game against the Houston Rockets, which presumably means that power forward Zach Randolph will sit out.

The 34-year-old is dealing with a sore knee.

The 14-year veteran has been a steady presence in the paint, averaging 14.5 points and 8.7 rebounds per game, while ranking as one of the league's most fearsome low-post scorers.

His Grizzlies, however, are just 6-6 on the season and have already suffered five double-digit losses. They were never a particularly strong offensive outfit (ranking 22nd in offensive rating this year), but their signature gritty style on defense is also starting to crack as they rank 28th in defensive rating.

Green boast per-36 averages of 13.3 points, 9.9 rebounds and 1.2 blocks this season.
