Westbrook's 40 not enough in Thunder's loss to Grizzlies

Chris Humphreys-USA TODAY Sports

Russell Westbrook put together another masterful performance in the absence of Kevin Durant on Monday evening in Memphis, but it wasn't enough to propel his Oklahoma City Thunder past the Grizzlies.

Westbrook poured in 40 points on 13-of-19 shooting to go along with 14 assists, four rebounds, and three steals in a game-high 39 minutes of action as the Thunder dropped their second straight, 122-114.

The defeat marked Westbrook's second 40-point game of the season, as the superstar point guard joined Stephen Curry and James Harden as the only players with multiple 40-point performances.

Mario Chalmers scored a team-high 29 points off the bench for the Grizzlies, who improved to 6-6 with their third straight win. Mike Conley added 22 points and nine assists for Memphis, while Jeff Green chipped in with 20 points.

The Grizzlies scored 43 points in the fourth quarter after trailing by one heading into the final period.
