Wizards' Beal out against Magic with shoulder injury

Jason Getz-USA TODAY Sports

Bradley Beal of the Washington Wizards will not play in Saturday night's game against the Orlando Magic.

Beal injured his shoulder last Saturday against the Atlanta Hawks and hasn't played since, although the Wizards had a light week and only played one game, on Tuesday. He hasn't practiced in the last few days either.

While there was no structural damage to Beal's non-shooting left shoulder after his collision with Jeff Teague, the Wizards have been careful with the 22-year-old shooting guard. Team doctors believe he is at risk of greater damage if he aggravates the injury, according to CSN's J. Michael.

The Wizards have lost three in a row and are at a huge disadvantage offensively without Beal's 22.7 points per game. His 27.7 usage percentage is just slightly behind point guard John Wall's, according to Basketball-Reference.

Garrett Temple will start alongside Wall in place of Beal. He's averaged three points per game in five appearance this season.
