DeMarcus Cousins out vs. Warriors with back strain

Jayne Kamin-Oncea-USA TODAY Sports

The Sacramento Kings will be without their best player in DeMarcus Cousins when they take on the Golden State Warriors on Saturday.

Cousins will miss his third straight game due to a strained back, KFBK's Bill Herenda reports.

Not having Cousins in the lineup is certainly a tremendous blow to the Kings' already slim chances of toppling the undefeated Warriors. His relentlessness in the interior, coupled with the Warriors playing the second night of a back-to-back, left the door open for an upset, but the Kings are just 1-6 without their temperamental center this season.

Cousins has been in and out of the lineup this season due to injuries, but he's been a monster when healthy, averaging 27.9 points, 11.2 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game while giving credence to the "Splash Cousins" nickname by adding a newfangled 3-point shot.

Backup center Kosta Koufos will likely draw the start.
