Ref admits critical missed call in Knicks-Raptors game

NBA referee Ed Malloy got out in front of something that's sure to be noted in Wednesday's Last Two Minute Report, admitting his crew missed a crucial call in Tuesday's New York Knicks win over the Toronto Raptors.

Replays clearly showed Knicks star Carmelo Anthony stepping out of bounds while being pressured by a Toronto triple-team with 20 seconds left in the game. The infraction was never called, and New York hung on for a 111-109 victory.

"When we came in, we reviewed the play," crew chief Malloy said after the game. "We did see Anthony step out of bounds and should've awarded the ball to Toronto."

Instead of the Raptors getting possession on the automatic turnover, Anthony was able to get the ball to teammate Lance Thomas - who, after being fouled, hit both free throws to put the game away.
