Mario Chalmers: Traded to Memphis

Chalmers was traded Tuesday to the Grizzlies along with forward James Ennis in a deal that will send forward Jarnell Stokes and guard Beno Udrih to the Heat, Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports reports.

Analysis:

Chalmers effectively replaces Udrih as the top backup at point guard to Mike Conley, but given the lack of offensive output shooting guards Courtney Lee and Tony Allen provide, it wouldn't be surprising if the Grizzlies often utilized Conley and Chalmers together. Those instances would likely be limited, however, as Chalmers' main role will reside with the second unit, where he'll aim to wring more production out of his running mates. While playing behind starter Goran Dragic over six games with the Heat this season, Chalmers was averaging 5.5 points and 3.2 assists over 20 minutes per contest.
