Arron Afflalo out again as Knicks host Spurs

William Hauser / USA TODAY Sports

Offseason free-agent signing Arron Afflalo is still not ready to make his New York Knicks debut. The shooting guard will miss Monday's matchup with the San Antonio Spurs due to a hamstring strain.

Knicks coach Derek Fisher told reporters pregame that Afflalo is getting closer to a return, but wouldn't put a date on when he would play. The 30-year-old, who signed a two-year, $16-million contract during the summer, aggravated a pre-existing strain in New York's preseason finale.

The Knicks could certainly use Afflalo's 3-and-D presence on the wing against tough competition. Following the Spurs game, they play in Cleveland on Wednesday against the Cavaliers.
