Mavericks' Williams questionable for Sunday vs. Lakers with knee sprain

Dallas Mavericks point guard Deron Williams is listed as questionable for Sunday against the Los Angeles Lakers.

The 31-year-old suffered a left knee contusion during Wednesday's season opener versus the Phoenix Suns.

The Mavs' marquee offseason acquisition, Williams had a decent outing in his lone regular-season game, scoring 12 points - a modest 5-for-8 from the field - while dishing out seven assists in the victory.

The Texas native didn't play in his team's loss to the Los Angeles Clippers on Thursday, but practiced Saturday.

Reserve floor generals Devin Harris, J.J. Barea, and Raymond Felton will likely share Williams' minutes should he sit out Sunday.
