Afflalo, Seraphin out for Knicks' home opener

William Hauser / USA TODAY Sports

Arron Afflalo and Kevin Seraphin both missed the New York Knicks' first game of the season Wednesday in Milwaukee, and now they will also miss the Knicks' home opener Thursday night against the Atlanta Hawks at Madison Square Garden.

Afflalo is day to day after an MRI revealed a sprain in his left hamstring. He aggravated the injury during New York's final preseason game last Friday. Seraphin, meanwhile, is nursing a sore right knee that sidelined him for two of the Knicks' six preseason contests.

Both players were offseason additions to the Knicks, and in Afflalo's case, a significant one. The high school classmate of Kendrick Lamar is widely expected to shoulder a heavy 3-and-D load at shooting guard this season.

Forward Lou Amundson will also sit once again for the Knicks, due to a sore back.
