Garnett matches NBA record by appearing in his 21st season

Jesse Johnson-USA TODAY Sports

Kobe Bryant wasn't the only future Hall of Famer setting records when Wednesday's Lakers-Timberwolves matchup tipped off.

With his start in Minnesota's season opener, Kevin Garnett officially entered his 21st NBA season, matching Robert Parish and Kevin Willis for the most all time.

If Garnett plays out the entirety of the two-year, $16.5-million contract he signed with the Timberwolves this past summer, the 39-year-old will become the Association's first 22-year man next season.

Bryant, meanwhile, became the first player in NBA history to play 20 seasons with one franchise when Wednesday's opener tipped off.
