Burks is no longer being viewed as a lock to start at shooting guard for Wednesday's season opener against the Pistons, Jody Genessy of the Deseret News reports.

Analysis:

Despite coach Quin Snyder labeling Burks as the "unquestioned starter" at shooting guard during training camp, it appears the 24-year-old may be considered a better fit off the bench, where he and Trey Burke could potentially give the second unit a much-needed scoring jolt. The starting situation remains fluid and Wednesday's lineup shouldn't be taken as a precursor of what's to come for the remainder of the season, as Burks is still likely to outpace second-year man Rodney Hood for minutes at the position this season.
