Pistons waive Granger to trim roster to 15

Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports

The Detroit Pistons trimmed their roster down to 15 players on Monday by waiving veteran forward Danny Granger, as expected.

Granger, who was acquired from the Phoenix Suns as a salary dump addition in July's Marcus Morris trade, did not participate in training camp or the preseason due to a knee injury.

By waiving Granger and his guaranteed contract for 2015-16, the Pistons will be eating the nearly $2.2 million owed to the 32-year-old.

Granger averaged 6.3 points and 2.7 rebounds in 30 games with the Miami Heat last season.

A one-time All Star who averaged more than 21 points per game over a five-year span from 2007-2012, Granger has played only 76 games over the last three seasons due to a slew of knee issues.
