Alec Burks: 'Unquestioned starter' at shooting guard

The Jazz view Burks as the "unquestioned starter" at shooting guard, according to the Salt Lake Tribune's Tony Jones.

Analysis:

Though coach Quin Snyder hasn't confirmed as much, Burks appears to be doing everything in his power to hold off second-year man Rodney Hood for the starting gig, as he's turned in an effective preseason. Over five preseason contests, Burks has averaged 12.4 points in 27 minutes per game, all while converting at a 46.8 percent clip from the field. If he can hover closer to that mark rather than the career-low 40.3 percent rate he shot in 2014-15, Burks should have a decent shot at finishing as the clear-cut third scoring option on the Jazz behind stars Gordon Hayward and Derrick Favors.
