Pistons' Reggie Jackson's MRI on Achilles comes back clean

Raj Mehta-USA TODAY Sports

Detroit Pistons head coach Stan Van Gundy can ill-afford to have both his star point guards out with major Achilles injuries. Thankfully, the point guard his team just signed to a reported five-year, $80-million contract has nothing to worry about.

Reggie Jackson underwent an MRI to check on a sore Achilles, with the tests coming back clean, according to Pistons.com's Keith Langlois.

Jackson - who didn't participate in the last part of Friday's practice after colliding with a stanchion - will be held out of Tuesday's preseason opener at the Palace of Auburn Hills against the Indiana Pacers.

Brandon Jennings was recently cleared for basketball activities as he recovers from a torn Achilles suffered in January, which cost him the latter half of his 2014-15 season.

Steve Blake is also on the sidelines with a concussion, so Van Gundy will be forced to roll with a depleted backcourt against the Pacers, as Spencer Dinwiddie is the only point guard left standing.

"Nobody's got anything serious at this point (other than Brandon) so you're not worried about it," Van Gundy said, per the Detroit News' Rod Beard.
