Jrue Holiday said Thursday that his surgically-repaired right leg is pain-free

Holiday said Thursday that his surgically-repaired right leg is pain-free, John Reid of the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.

Analysis:

Holiday has suffered from recurring problems with the right leg during his first two seasons in New Orleans, limiting him to just 74 games with the club. Though he finally seems to have a clean bill of health and is participating fully in training camp, the Pelicans don't seem to be budging from their stated plan to reduce Holiday's minutes this season in an effort to keep him on the court throughout the campaign. Holiday will be capped at around 10 minutes per game during the preseason, and once the regular season begins, coach Alvin Gentry has stated that the point guard would see somewhere in the range of 15 minutes per night through January. Additionally, the Pelicans plan to hold Holiday out for one game of back-to-back scenarios, all of which conspires to dampen his fantasy appeal. It's expected that the Pelicans will relax Holiday's restrictions in the second half of the season, which could make him an excellent trade target at that point in time, but only if he makes it through January with no setbacks on the health front.
