Gibson (ankle) said Monday that he hopes to be ready for the Bulls' season opener against the Cavaliers on Oct. 27, Nick Friedell of ESPN Chicago reports.

Analysis:

Gibson, who had his left ankle scoped this offseason, said Monday that he hasn't been able to run at full speed in roughly three months. As such, he'll likely be limited as training camp gets underway, and it may take a few weeks for the big man to work his way into playing shape once he's fully cleared. At this point, Gibson being ready for the opener seems rather optimistic, so his status is something to keep an eye on over the next month.
