Richardson has decided to retire from the NBA, Marc Spears of Yahoo! Sports reports.

Analysis:

Richardson inked a non-guaranteed deal with the Hawks last month due to the team's status as a contender, but after enduring some discomfort in his right knee over the past 4-to-5 days, an MRI revealed bone spurs in the knee. Considering he sat out the 2013-14 season due to injury and logged 52 games combined in the past three campaigns, yet another ailment was seemingly setting up the 34-year-old guard for another injury-plagued season, if he made the Hawks' roster at all. Known for his dunking prowess, Richardson will end his career No. 16 on the all-time three-pointers made list with 1,608, while providing 17.1 points (on 44 percent shooting), 5.0 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.9 threes, and 1.2 steals in 34 minutes per contest.
