Spain is headed to the EuroBasket semifinals for a ninth consecutive time and is one step closer to the 2016 Olympics, thanks to a 73-71 victory over Greece in the quarterfinals on Tuesday.

Despite a slow start to the tournament, Spain built momentum into the knockout stage, thanks in large part to the play of tournament-leading scorer Pau Gasol. The Chicago Bulls center scored 27 points on 10-of-18 shooting Tuesday, adding nine rebounds, three assists, and two blocks for good measure.

It was a block against Gasol that was the game's most notable highlight, with burgeoning Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo rejecting a Gasol hook shot off-window.

Antetokounmpo scored 12 points and grabbed 17 rebounds in the losing effort, doing everything in his power to keep the Greek side alive.

While Spain now awaits the winner of Tuesday's game between France and Latvia in the semifinals, Greece will head to a secondary bracket that will send three of the four quarterfinal losers to the 2016 Olympic Qualifying Tournament next summer.
