Report: Jeff Ayres agrees to sign with Chinese club

Jeff Ayres (formerly known as Jeff Pendergraph) has reached an agreement with a Chinese Basketball Association team, according to international basketball reporter David Pick.

Ayres will reportedly earn $1 million with his new club.

The 28-year-old, drafted 31st overall in 2009, spent one lost season with the Portland Trail Blazers before logging two seasons each with the Indiana Pacers and San Antonio Spurs.

Across 220 games, Ayres averaged three points and 2.8 rebounds on 55.4 percent shooting from the field.

Signing with a Chinese club shouldn't preclude Ayres from making a return to the NBA next season as the CBA regular season ends in February and playoffs run through March.
