Brazilian point guard Marcelo Huertas has agreed to a one-year deal with the Los Angeles Lakers, according to Yahoo Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski.

The 32-year-old floor general had previously indicated he was ready to make the jump to the NBA after prior contractual restraints with his Spanish clubs prevented him from doing so.

"This is the right time," Huertas told Yahoo Sports in April.

Huertas has played a majority of his career with FC Barcelona, averaging 7.6 points and 4.4 assists on 40.3 percent shooting in 28 Euroleague appearances in 2014-15.

He'll likely work as a third-stringer behind rookie D'Angelo Russell and Jordan Clarkson.

With the Lakers' young backcourt being groomed for the future, Huertas can step in behind the scenes and act as a veteran leader for the developing duo.

"If you look at NBA rosters, there are unbelievable starting point guards, but maybe not as many guys who can come off the bench able to run the team, score the ball - as well as being able to be a leader for young players," Huertas said. "Those are things I know I'll be able to bring with me."
