Report: Joey Dorsey to sign with Turkish club after reaching buyout with Nuggets

Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports

Veteran big man Joey Dorsey will be heading overseas next season to suit up for Turkish club Galatasaray, according to international basketball reporter David Pick.

Dorsey was sent to the Denver Nuggets via the Houston Rockets last month in a package for Ty Lawson. According to the Denver Post's Chris Dempsey, the Nuggets and Dorsey have come to terms on a buyout agreement on the remaining $1 million of his expiring deal, giving the 31-year-old the leeway to head to Europe.

In 69 games with the Rockets last season, Dorsey averaged 2.7 points and four rebounds on 55.2 percent shooting. The 6-foot-9 Memphis alumnus also started 17 games in place of an injured Dwight Howard.

This won't be Dorsey's first stint in Europe, as he left the NBA following his 2010-11 campaign with the Toronto Raptors to join Caja Laboral of the Spanish League. He also had stints with Greece's Olympiacos, Turkey's Royal Halı Gaziantep, and Spain's FC Barcelona before returning to America to play for Houston last season.

He agreed to a two-year, $2-million deal with the franchise last summer.
