The image of an NBA player appearing alongside a Looney Tunes character will always conjure memories of "Space Jam." In the case of the Jordan brand's latest ad campaign, the meshing of worlds is simply designed to promote a new shoe for one of the league's brightest stars.

Blake Griffin's new Super Fly 4 sneaker is set for release this Saturday. To help show off his new kicks prior to the launch, the Los Angeles Clippers All-Star went head-to-head with Marvin the Martian in "The Dunk to End All Dunks."

To avoid being "disintegrated" by his laser gun, Griffin used the shoes to ultimately emerge victorious.

With rumors circulating about a possible "Space Jam" sequel, and Griffin's shoes featuring the colors of the film's poster, one could speculate that the ad is also hinting at another movie.

Talking to Ben Golliver of Sports Illustrated during the shoot, Griffin revealed his deep love for the popular childhood classic.

"I saw the movie in theaters with my brother Taylor and my dad," Griffin remembered.

"Then we had the 'Space Jam' birthday party. We didn’t have a lot of money, so it wasn’t a crazy decked out birthday party. But I had a 'Space Jam' cake. We had the 'Space Jam' plates. I definitely got 'Space Jam' on VHS, and all my friends came over, we played basketball, and then we watched 'Space Jam' that night in a big room before we went to sleep.”

Marvin the Martian didn't have a large role in the movie, sticking to officiating when Michael Jordan's Tune Squad battled the Monstars, but he got some decent screen time on this occasion.
