The worldwide gaming phenomenon that is Dota 2 takes up a lot of point guard Jeremy Lin's free time.

During a recent appearance at the International Dota 2 Championships as a guest commentator, the 26-year-old mentioned how often he gets to play the multiplayer online battle arena game over the course of a hectic regular season.

"During the season, I play a decent amount," Lin said. "Usually after games and on the road, I'm in the hotel. I get to play every night. Still, during the season, I'll still play maybe three times a week."

Lin even managed to find a way to compare his gaming experience to what he faces on the hardwood.

"It's just like basketball," he said. "It's 5-on-5. You have three types of positions. In basketball, you've got your wings, your point guard, and your big men. It's the same thing here. You have three different types of players.

"You can tell that the higher level you go, it's all about teamwork. It's all about guys doing their role."

In Valve's "Free To Play," a documentary about Dota 2 released over a year ago, Lin said the game "is a way of life," and that it's helped him keep in touch with friends and family over the years.

The man behind "Linsanity" agreed to a two-year, $4.3-million deal with the Charlotte Hornets this offseason after spending last year suiting up for the Los Angeles Lakers.
