The Miami Heat have officially signed second-round pick Josh Richardson, the team announced Monday.

The deal will reportedly be worth $2.5 million over three seasons, according to Shams Charania of Real GM.

The first year will be fully guaranteed, and the second is partially guaranteed.

Richardson was selected with the No. 40 pick in the 2015 NBA Draft after spending four seasons at Tennessee, where he averaged 16 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 3.6 assists on 46.1 percent shooting in his final year with the program.

The Heat made a series of roster moves over the past few weeks to not only clear salary cap space, but to also create a spot on the roster to house Richardson. Henry Walker was waived, guard Shabazz Napier was traded to the Orlando Magic, and Zoran Dragic was sent packing to the Boston Celtics.

Richardson is a versatile defender who can guard multiple positions with his 6-foot-6 frame. He had a tremendous showing in the summer league, averaging 11.8 points and 1.7 steals over 10 games in both Las Vegas and Orlando, including a 23-point outing against the Sacramento Kings.

“He’s a tremendous player, on both sides of the floor," Heat assistant Dan Craig said, according to HeatNation.com. "We were really happily surprised with how quickly he was able to evolve into the NBA game, particularly from the point-guard standpoint.”
