Report: Bucks finalizing deal with Chris Copeland

Chris Copeland and the Milwaukee Bucks are close to finalizing a deal that's "on course for completion this week," according to ESPN's Marc Stein.

The Bucks were one of several teams interested in signing the stretch-forward, along with the San Antonio Spurs, Washington Wizards, and Los Angeles Clippers.

Copeland, 31, suffered stab wounds to his abdomen and elbow during an incident outside of a New York City nightclub April 8. Prior to the unfortunate events of that fateful morning, the former Colorado Buffalo had suited up for 50 games with the Indiana Pacers, averaging 6.2 points and 2.2 rebounds.

His shooting numbers took a colossal hit, with his field-goal percentage dipping from 47 to 36.1 percent, and his 3-point percentage dropping to 31.1 percent after nailing 41.8 percent of his attempts the previous year.

By signing Copeland, trading for Greivis Vasquez, and drafting Rashad Vaughn out of UNLV, head coach Jason Kidd has three more shooters at his disposal to build upon an already potent outside attack, with the Bucks ranking seventh last season in 3-point percentage at 36.3. Copeland will have to prove that his 2014-15 campaign was just an off-year, though.
