Deron Williams: Bought Out By Brooklyn, Expected to Sign with Mavericks

Williams and the Nets have reached a buyout agreement and the point guard is expected to sign with Dallas once he clears waivers, David Alrdidge of TNT reports.

Analysis:

Brooklyn GM Billy King initially said that Williams would not be bought out this offseason, but now it looks as if Williams is set to join his hometown Mavericks once he clears waivers. Dallas is in dire need of a starting point guard after the Rajon Rondo experiment was a complete failure, and Williams will fill that need on what should be a relatively cheap deal. The point guard had one of his least productive seasons in his career last year, posting averages of 13.0 points, 6.6 assists and 3.5 rebounds per game. It is possible that the fresh start in Dallas could help Williams rejuvenate his career at 31 years old. The terms of the buyout are not yet known.
