The Washington Wizards continue to try to plug the gap left by departed veteran Paul Pierce.
The Wizards and free agent Alan Anderson have agreed to one-year, $4-million deal, according to Yahoo Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski.
The 32-year-old remained transparent about his intention to enter the free-agency pool, and had reportedly been courted by the Wizards as of late. Tuesday, Anderson and Washington's mutual interest came to fruition.
A six-year man in the NBA, Anderson has proven himself a useful role player. After going undrafted, the Charlotte Bobcats (now the Hornets) brought him aboard for the 2005-06 season.
Anderson bounced around various teams throughout the globe (notable stops: Maccabi Tel Aviv and FC Barcelona) before landing back on a NBA squad with the Toronto Raptors in 2012.
Throughout the past two seasons with the Brooklyn Nets, Anderson averaged 7.3 points and 2.5 rebounds. A career 34.6-percent 3-point shooter, Anderson will be asked to stretch the floor for the Wizards with the occasional slash to the basket, something he is wont to do.
While he may not provide the same championship-level leadership as Pierce, Anderson brings an impressive, albeit unassuming, resume of his own.
