Klay Thompson calls Curry 'the best player in the world'

Ken Blaze-USA TODAY Sports

Call it a luxury of being someone who gets to hold the Larry O'Brien Trophy, but Klay Thompson took a bit of a dig at LeBron James and his "best player in the world" comment after the Golden State Warriors won the NBA title Tuesday.

"It just feels good to say we're the best team in the world with the best player in the world," Thompson said, nodding over to Stephen Curry.

I see what you did there, Klay Thompson.

It won't sit well with some, but to the winner go the spoils. It's why Andre Iguodala was as deserving a choice for Finals MVP as anyone, so long as you ascribe to the belief that the series MVP needs to come from a winning team.

James's initial comment didn't sit well with Iguodala, but that doesn't mean he disagreed with it. "When he said he's the best player in the world," Iguodala told reporters, "I don't think he should have said it, because we all know."

Take it from someone who just spent the last two weeks guarding him.
