Hawks' Mack out 3-4 months as surgery required for shoulder injury

Shelvin Mack should be ready by the time training camp rolls around, but the Atlanta Hawks guard has a tough summer ahead of him.

Mack suffered a separated right shoulder with two minutes remaining in Tuesday's season-ending Game 4 loss in Cleveland. The Hawks confirmed the diagnosis on Wednesday.

After re-signing with the Hawks last summer, Mack averaged 5.4 points, 2.8 assists, and 1.4 rebounds in slightly more than 15 minutes per game off Atlanta's bench, filling in at both guard positions.

Mack could be hard-pressed to find as much floor time next season, with Dennis Schroder continuing to develop, Thabo Sefolosha eventually coming back from injury, and Kent Bazemore also on the team's books.

The 25-year-old Butler product has two years and a reasonable $4.87 million ($2,433,333 per year) remaining on his contract, although the final year is fully unguaranteed.
