VIDEO: Curry springs Barnes for transition jam, but Warriors offense cold early

Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

The Houston Rockets have done the seemingly impossible to start Game 5 on Wednesday: they've slowed down the Golden State Warriors.

The Warriors have come out of the gates ice cold as they look to eliminate the Rockets and punch their ticket to the NBA Finals. It's not likely to sustain, but it's an uncharacteristically poor start for the Oakland offense.

Golden State shot 6-of-27 from the floor and 1-of-8 from long-range while turning the ball over five times, finishing the frame with 17 points. That ties their lowest first-quarter mark of the entire season, is just three points off their worst quarter of the year, and one off their playoff season low.

There's team-wide guilt, with Steph Curry 2-of-7, Klay Thompson 1-of-4, and Draymond Green 1-of-7. The lone player to shoot above 50 percent was Harrison Barnes, who went 2-of-3 thanks in part to a terrific outlet pass from Curry:

The frigid start has the Warriors down 22-17 at home heading into the second quarter. That five-point deficit is due to the Rockets being nearly as cold.
