Paul Millsap: Hawks 'family' will play into free agency decision

The Atlanta Hawks have given Paul Millsap a lot to think about this summer.

After two seasons with the Hawks, the two-time All-Star is set to become an unrestricted free agent. Although Atlanta would like to re-sign Millsap, who followed up a strong performance in the regular season by averaging 15.2 points in the postseason, they may have to wait in line behind other teams.

However, the closeness of the Hawks' players will factor into Millsap's decision.

"I think looking at different options, looking at this team, looking at what we've built thus far, in (weighing) my options I can't make a decision right now," Millsap told the media after the Hawks were swept from the playoffs by the Cleveland Cavaliers. "It's been a long series, a long year, for me and the team. Let things die down, cool off, relax and think about it a little bit. We are a family. This team is close. It will play a lot into the decision."

Jeff Teague is hoping his friend will return along with DeMarre Carroll, another unrestricted free agent.

"I enjoyed every moment playing with him," said Teague. "He made me a better player. I think he enjoyed being around all the guys, him and DeMarre. I'm looking forward for them to be back and take another crack at it."

Millsap is sure to receive a contract worth more than his last $19-million, two-year deal with the Hawks.
