Cavs' Kevin Love out of sling, cleared to travel with team

Bob DeChiara-USA TODAY Sports

Kevin Love is hitting the road.

The injured Cleveland Cavaliers forward is allowed to travel with his team for the duration of the postseason, Cavs general manager David Griffin told ESPN's Dave McMenamin.

While Cleveland was busy defeating the Atlanta Hawks in the first two games of the Eastern Conference Finals on their come court, Love went to have his left shoulder checked by Dr. David Altchek in New York - the same doctor who performed the surgery that would put him out of commission for an estimated four-to-six months.

Altchek not only cleared him for travel, but said Love no longer has to wear the sling he has been wearing for the last month.

Love averaged 14.3 points, 7 rebounds, and 2.5 assists in the playoffs before Boston Celtics center Kelly Olynyk dislocated his shoulder in Game 4.

The Cavs have seen playoff success without him, sweeping Boston out of the playoffs, defeating the Chicago Bulls in six games, and leading the Hawks 3-0.
