Draymond Green on road success: 'To shut (the fans) up, it's an amazing feeling'

Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

Dwight Howard "saw quit from everybody" at the Toyota Center during Game 3 on Saturday. If Draymond Green has his way, their won't be anyone left in the arena to see quit from by the end of Monday's Game 4.

The Golden State Warriors emerging heel mouthpiece tried his best to explain the mentality that goes into being a good road team on Monday. The Warriors, after all, went 28-13 on the road during the regular season and are 5-1 away from home in the playoffs. There must be something to it.

"How many people does this gym hold?" Green asked. He was told 18,000-19,000 - it's actually 18,043 - setting up his explanation:

So about 13,000 fans against you. Because you know Dub Nation travels strong.

To shut them up, it’s an amazing feeling. It’s an amazing feeling. You’ve got everybody wanting their guys to win. They’ve got their chants, all of this, all of that. To see the look on their faces, to see them leaving early, that’s the best feeling in the world.

Expanding later, Green pointed to the fact the Warriors have a lot of players who were originally underrated or doubted, and that underdog mentality plays out well in unfriendly confines.

The Houston Rockets need to hope a 3-0 series lead mutes that attitude for the Warriors for at least one night. No team has ever come back from that deficit in 116 tries, but extending the series game-by-game makes the odds slightly better.

But then they'd head to Oakland for Game 5, where the Warriors were 39-2 in the regular season and are 6-1 in the playoffs. There's just no winning with these guys.
