Report: NBA may bump up Finals 2 days if Warriors and Cavs both sweep

The NBA Finals are currently slated to begin on June 4.

Through no fault of the schedule-makers, who had every reason to believe this was sound planning, that distant tip-off date may mean a 9-to-10 day hiatus for its participants.

Should the Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors both sweep their respective Conference Finals - which looks well within the realm of possibility given how those series have played out thus far - the Cavs would have nine days off before the Finals, while the Warriors would have 10.

Looking past an opponent is typically a no-no, but notoriously brash Warriors forward Draymond Green had no problem addressing the hypothetical situation.

"A little rest would be cool," Green said Sunday, according to Tim Kawakami of the Mercury News, "but June 4th, man, that's a long time to just not be playing."

The league is aware of the potential conflict, however, and Kawakami reports they will at least consider the possibility of bumping the Finals up to June 2. It would be a difficult change based on television, hotel, and media considerations, and the league is only in a "very early exploration" stage, according to a report from Ken Berger of CBS Sports.

The league could still be spared having to make the decision by the conference finals lasting a little while longer. Failing that, it's possible, albeit unlikely, fans are spared a nine-day break.
