Pelicans' Evans undergoes knee surgery

Derick E. Hingle-USA TODAY Sports

Ah, springtime in the NBA for eliminated players: golf, watching other teams play in the postseason, and scoped knees.

Guard Tyreke Evans is the latest New Orleans Pelicans player to undergo arthroscopic knee surgery since the season ended, the team confirmed Thursday.

Teammate Quincy Pondexter underwent a similar procedure earlier this month. In a more serious procedure, point guard Jrue Holiday had a screw removed from his leg.

According to the Pelicans' media release, Wednesday's surgery was on Evans's right knee. He injured his left knee during the playoffs, but only missed most of one game.

Scoping procedures are fairly common for players at this time of year. The Pelicans didn't announce a timetable for his return to basketball-related activities, although it's typically four-to-eight weeks.

Evans was second on the team in scoring and assists this season.
