J.R. Smith sets Cavaliers' playoff record for most 3s in a game

Raj Mehta-USA TODAY Sports

It's J.R. Smith's world and the Atlanta Hawks and Cleveland Cavaliers are just playing within it.

Smith caught fire in the opening game of the Eastern Conference Finals on Wednesday, racking up 28 points on 10-of-16 shooting in 36 minutes off the bench. Smith drained eight triples, breaking the Cavaliers' previous record for most 3-pointers made in a playoff game.

Smith also had all of the Cavaliers' 28 bench points.

There's no rhyme or reason for most of Smith's makes. The Hawks' defense was good, but it didn't matter, as Smith drained a series of difficult jumpers.
