The Portland Trail Blazers shooting guard will lose the walking boot he's been in since undergoing Achilles tendon surgery in March on Tuesday. He gave the update in an appearance as an NBA TV guest analyst this weekend.

"Coming off on Tuesday, that's the plan," said Matthews, according to the Oregonian. "It's ahead of schedule, and I'm excited for that, definitely."

Matthews ruptured his left Achilles tendon in a March contest against the Dallas Mavericks, and was forced to undergo surgery that cut his season short.

During warmups before the Blazers' Game 4 matchup in the first round of the playoffs against the Memphis Grizzlies, Matthews showed everyone that he's still got that fire.

Wes can still hit the step back

The shooting guard started in all 60 games he played in before his injury, averaging 15.9 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 33.7 minutes.
