Throwback Thursday: 'Talkin' about practice' with Iverson

Eric Hartline-US PRESSWIRE

"We ain't talking about the game, we're talking about practice, man."

Thirteen years ago to the day, Allen Iverson blessed us with a press conference rant about forcing him to chat, not about his performance during contests, but about his behavior in practices.

The 2001-2002 Philadelphia 76ers squad had just been tossed out of the first round of the playoffs by the Boston Celtics when coach Larry Brown chirped Iverson for missing team practices.

Iverson got real dramatic in the postgame press conference, dropping the P word (you know, practice) a total of 15 times.

The guard did not know it then, but his little rant would become a big part of NBA culture and be re-enacted so many times, we are still hearing the word practice in our dreams.

Basketball writer Steve McPherson's daughter gives us the cutest rendition of the rant.

KABOOM. Goodbye, Internet.

LeBron James gave a quick shout-out to the rant last season.

Santa Claus lets reporters know, in A.I. fashion, that he isn't at the NBA press conference to talk about presents.

Actor Charlie Sheen imitated the rant during a CBS interview.

Ever wonder how Morgan Freeman would have ranted about practice? Frank Caliendo appeared on ESPN's "Mike & Mike" with a recreation.

This should be a national holiday, honestly.
