Danny Green on post-elimination Spurs: 'Things may be changing'

Jayne Kamin-Oncea / USA TODAY Sports

Swingman Danny Green knows that change is coming for his San Antonio Spurs squad.

The Spurs suffered a heartbreaking loss to the Los Angeles Clippers in Game 7 and walked away from the postseason empty handed. Green knows the loss was especially felt by his teammates Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili, long-time veterans of San Antonio.

"It hasn't sunk in yet, but this is a special group. That's why it sucks so bad, especially for Timmy (Duncan) and Manu (Ginobili)," Green told San Antonio Express-News' Mike Monroe. "We had an opportunity to do something special for them. All I can do is hope and pray for another group like that in the future, but I have a feeling some of those guys will be back. R.C. and Pop do a great job of bringing in new guys."

Green will be a free agent as of July 1, but hopes to make himself a fixture in San Antonio. He certainly made himself indispensable during the Game 7 battle against Los Angeles, finishing with 16 points, eight rebounds, five blocks, three assists, and two steals, while shooting 50 percent from the field.

Not diminishing his desire to return to his team, he knows that the Spurs may look different come next season.

"Hopefully, I’ll be back," said Green. "I love San Antonio. The fans have always supported us, from day one. It sucks that we had such a special group, and things may be changing and not be the same again."
