Dunleavy thinks Antetokounmpo's suspension was unwarranted

Chicago Bulls small forward Mike Dunleavy won't face any disciplinary action for his jab to the jaw of Michael Carter-Williams during the Bulls' series-clinching Game 6 romp over the Milwaukee Bucks

The man who later leveled Dunleavy with a running shoulder to the gut was not so lucky. Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo was ejected from the game for the hit, and subsequently received a one-game suspension from the league.

But not only does Dunleavy bear Antetokounmpo no ill will, he believes the tacked-on suspension was unnecessary.

"I don't think he should be penalized," Dunleavy said, according to ESPN's Nick Friedell. "I thought he was penalized during the game. He got a foul, a flagrant foul, free throw and was ejected so it seemed fair to me. I don't think (there should be) anything worse than that."

As to his own misconduct, which went uncalled in the game but has retroactively been labeled a flagrant 1 foul by the league office, Dunleavy accepted culpability without exactly being apologetic.

"Yeah, I guess so," he said, when asked if he agreed with the league's decision. "Because after seeing the replay, there was some contact above the neck, so in those situations that's what it mandates."

Dunleavy re-iterated that the incident with Antetokounmpo hasn't left a sour taste in his mouth, nor has it affected his travel plans concerning the Greek Isles.

"I got no issues with the guy," he said. "Nice kid, young kid, going to be a really good player. Doesn't change my feeling on wanting to get over to Mykonos."
