Aldridge will undergo an evaluation on his left hand in the near future, The Oregonian reports.

Analysis:

Aldridge suffered what was eventually diagnosed as a torn ligament in his left thumb on Jan. 19, which was intended to require 6-to-8 weeks on the pine after surgery was performed on the afflicted region. After much contemplation, he decided to forego the procedure in order to see if this year's Blazers were a special unit, playing out the season with a brace on his left hand. As the regular season progressed, the starting lineup suffered the loss of Wesley Matthews due to a torn Achilles, but Aldridge remained a veritable double-double machine, averaging 23.6 points (on 47 percent shooting), 10.3 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and 0.7 blocks in 35 minutes. Aldridge's scoring prowess waned a bit in the first-round series defeat at the hands of the Grizzlies, with marks of 21.8 points on 33 percent from the floor to go with 11.2 rebounds and 2.4 blocks per game. As he enters an offseason rife with question marks due to his impending unrestricted free agency, the first answer should arrive once the call to have surgery on his thumb is made, one way or another.
