Lillard says he's with Blazers for long haul, will reportedly seek max extension

Damian Lillard says Portland is where he wants to be.

Sure, as rumors swirl around Trail Blazers teammate LaMarcus Aldridge, it's worth nothing that he said the same thing a year ago. But Lillard, who is eligible for a contract extension this summer, wants to take action.

"For me, this is where I want to be," Lillard said Thursday as the Blazers conducted exit interviews. "So whatever we need to do to make that happen and figure that out, then that's what I'm going to do."

Lillard, who just completed his third NBA season, can sign an extension on his rookie contract between July 1 and Oct. 31. He will seek a five-year designated player maximum contract, according to a report by Shams Charania of RealGM.

An All-Star the past two years, Lillard is not lacking confidence.

"People can say what they want, numbers don't lie," Lillard said. "And being out there every night, being there for your team, you can't replace that." The point guard was referring to himself being one of only five NBA players to finish with 1,700 points and 500 assists this season.

His company there is pretty intense: LeBron James, Russell Westbrook, Stephen Curry and James Harden.

Lillard has never missed a game in his Blazer career, and has raised his scoring average each year he's been in the league. In three NBA seasons, he's a 36.8 percent three-point shooter.
