Steve Kerr wins Rudy Tomjanovich Award from PBWA

Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr is having quite the season.

Not only did Kerr set a record for wins by a rookie head coach and for the biggest jump in wins by a 50-win team, he's also watched his Warriors cruise to the Western Conference semifinals, which they should be plenty rested for.

All the while, Kerr remained affable, approachable and agreeable. It's that attitude and demeanor that's earned him the 2014-15 Rudy Tomjanovich Award from the Pro Basketball Writers Association.

The award is given annually to the coach who best blends on-court success with cooperation with the media and fans. It's essentially the coaching version of the Magic Johnson Award that Pau Gasol won last week.

Frank Vogel won the award last season, with George Karl, Doc Rivers and Jerry Sloan winning in the years before that.

From taking playful jabs at opposing coaches to making comparisons good for copy and asking players to shoot for All-Star spots, Kerr always seems to have something at the ready to help the media out.

That's not surprising since Kerr is a former member of the media himself, and because he's long been thought of as one of the league's good guys.
