NBA Game Summary - Cleveland at Boston

Boston, MA (SportsNetwork.com) - LeBron James and the Cavaliers escaped a physical Game 4 with a sweep of the overmatched Celtics.

They did it mostly without Kevin Love after his left arm was jarred from its socket by Celtics big man Kelly Olynyk, who was accused by Cavaliers players of doing it on purpose.

Love suffered a dislocated shoulder, touching off a series of increasingly chippy plays that threatened to derail a game the Cavs led comfortably almost from the start.

"I saw the replay and it didn't look like a basketball play," James said. "I've seen a lot of tie ups in my day and that was a little different."

James had 27 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists and No. 2-seeded Cleveland advanced to the Eastern Conference semifinals with a 101-93 win over Boston on Sunday.

The Cavs swept a playoff series for the first time since running the table against Detroit and Atlanta in 2009 with James leading the way.

They will face either Chicago or Milwaukee in the semifinals, but likely won't have to play again until next weekend. Love's availability is up in the air.

He was injured when Olynyk clutched his arm as the players scrambled for a loose ball midway through the first quarter. The motion pulled Love's arm down away from his body, causing him to grab at his shoulder as he ran down the court, past the Cavs bench and into the tunnel.

Love will have tests in Cleveland to determine the extent of his injury, the team said. Speaking to reporters after the game, he called the incident "bush league" and said he had "no doubt" Olynyk did it on purpose.

"If that's what he thinks," Cavs coach David Blatt said, "he was the closest person to the play."

Kyrie Irving added 24 points and 11 rebounds for Cleveland and Iman Shumpert chipped in 15 points and 10 rebounds off the bench. Irving agreed with his teammates on Olynyk's intent.

"I think it was a shared feeling that it just wasn't a basketball play," he said.

Isaiah Thomas and Jared Sullinger scored 21 apiece off the bench to lead Boston and Avery Bradley had 16 points.

The Celtics, after a late-season run landed them in the playoffs despite an apparent rebuilding effort, were swept for the first time in 11 years.

"We played a very good team and swept the series," said Blatt, "so we must have done good things. We showed fortitude to win the series."

Things got physical after Love's exit.

Cleveland's Kendrick Perkins was whistled for flagrant and technical fouls in the second quarter after shoving Boston's Jae Crowder to the court on a pick.

Crowder, who was guarding James near the sideline, also received a technical foul after he and Perkins jawed at each other in a scrum.

Later, Cavs guard J.R. Smith received a Flagrant 2 foul and was ejected after hitting Crowder across the face as he boxed him out under the basket in the third quarter.

"Guys are going to stand up for themselves and sometimes things are going to get out of hand a little too much," said Irving.

Crowder left the game with what Boston said was a left knee sprain suffered on the same play.

"You have highly accomplished, great athletes on both ends of the floor," said Celtics coach Brad Stevens. "Tensions are going to flare."

The Cavs' only deficit was 8-7. They took a 10-point lead on Irving's reverse layup after five minutes and were ahead by 19 at the time of the Perkins and Crowder altercation with 2 1/2 minutes left in the first half.

They pushed it to 21 points on James' bank shot just before halftime, but Boston chipped away, drawing within nine when Sullinger beat the third-quarter buzzer with a tip-in.

"We talked frankly at halftime that we needed to come out better," Stevens said.

"We weren't very good in the second quarter, or really the first half, but I thought we played spirited throughout the rest of the game. As usual with this team, when things don't go their way, they don't hang their head long."

Boston made a late run. In a hectic series, the Cavs opened the lane for Thomas to score a layup, making sure not to foul him. But Thomas collided with James as he threw the inbounds pass, which was stolen by Boston to set up two Bradley foul shots that got the Celtics within 99-93 with 37.1 seconds left.

James' ensuing inbounds pass, contested by Boston, was tipped out of bounds by the Cavs, but Gigi Datome missed a 3-pointer to close the door.
