Pelicans' Holiday returns for Game 3 on Thursday

Sam Sharpe-USA TODAY Sports

Help is on the way for the New Orleans Pelicans.

Pelicans point guard Jrue Holiday is expected to suit up for Game 3 against the Golden State Warriors on Thursday, the team announced.

Holiday missed Game 2 with leg soreness. He missed 41 games in the latter half of the regular season after sustaining a stress fracture in his leg. Holiday managed to return for three of the last four games of the season and played 21 minutes in Game 1.

The Pelicans are short on perimeter defenders and will need all the help they can get at point guard. Holiday is a tenacious defender and will be called upon to slow down Stephen Curry for stretches.

On the year, Holiday averaged 14.8 points, 6.9 assists and 1.6 steals per game. He will come off the bench behind starting point guard Tyreke Evans.
