Thunder's Kanter undergoes knee surgery

Oklahoma City Thunder center Enes Kanter underwent successful arthroscopic surgery on his right knee, the team announced Wednesday.

It was not publicly known beforehand that Kanter would undergo surgery, a scope of his left knee that is likely a cleanup procedure. Kanter will be sidelined from any offseason activity for four-to-six weeks. He tweeted this out on Wednesday.

The operation is particularly noteworthy because Kanter is also a restricted free agent this summer, and the Thunder are widely expected to match any offer for the Swiss-born Turkish big man. Kanter, much-maligned with the Utah Jazz, averaged 18.7 points and 11 rebounds in 26 games with OKC after coming over at the trade deadline.

Kanter also told media after the Thunder's season ended that he planned on playing for the Turkish national team at September's FIBA EuroBasket.
