Wizards' Pierce admits to being troubled by old knee injury

No matter how much of a big game he talks, Paul Pierce is not invincible.

The Washington Wizards small forward admitted to the Washington Post's Jorge Castillo that he is still battling with a right knee injury he suffered in February.

Pierce was sidelined for a few games after knocking knees with Draymond Green in Washington's loss to the Golden State Warriors on Feb. 24. Playing each game with his knee heavily wrapped, he acknowledged that he may struggle until retirement with the discomfort from his injury.

Pierce was allowed to rest at the end of the regular season, sitting out of the finale loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

"It's definitely beneficial for me," explained Pierce. "You get a couple good days in between games to get your body back, coming (home) to get the treatment necessary for the game. I definitely think it's helpful. And even for our young guys because some of our young guys act like they're old too, the way they sit on the training table."

The Wizards veteran is bringing the heavy artillery, his hyperbaric chamber, to Toronto to ready him for Game 2 against the Toronto Raptors

Pierce posted 11.9 points, four rebounds, and two assists per game this season, appearing in 73 games for 26.2 minutes per.
