Blazers' Afflalo out for Game 1 vs. Grizzlies

Jaime Valdez / USA TODAY Sports

The Portland Trail Blazers will be without Arron Afflalo, as expected, for Game 1 of their Western Conference quarterfinal series against the Memphis Grizzlies.

Afflalo, who had been listed as questionable for Sunday's game, remains sidelined with a sprained right shoulder suffered on April 9.

The veteran shooting guard was acquired at the February trade deadline to back up starter Wesley Matthews to shore up Portland's depth. Instead the Blazers enter the postseason without either Afflalo or Matthews, as the latter saw his season come to an end in March due to a torn Achilles.

Afflalo's postseason return, at least, is expected at some point.

Afflalo averaged 13.3 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 78 games with the Blazers and Denver Nuggets this season.
