Vogel says George's injury was nothing serious

The Indiana Pacers will have six months to lick their wounds from this season, but thankfully it won't be a serious one for Paul George.

George left Indiana's season-ending 95-83 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies Wednesday with a sore left calf. He had to be helped to the locker room, an unsettling sight following George's return this season from a compound fracture to his leg.

"Nothing serious," Pacers coach Frank Vogel told reporters after the game. "He got kicked pretty strongly in his calf, and it caused a calf strain."

George conceded there's a long summer of workouts ahead.

"Just came off a screen and felt a pop," the small forward said. "It wasn't a knee injury but it's tough, you work so hard in rehab and have something else pop up. The good thing is, I know we've got a long summer and a lot to look forward to."

Wednesday's defeat eliminated the Pacers from postseason contention and gave the final East playoff spot to the Brooklyn Nets

The final tally for George was only six games played this season, all in the past two weeks. "This was a must-win, and we came up short," George told media. "Kind of the epitome of this whole season."
